Forest School is an innovative educational approach to outdoor play and learning.
The philosophy of Forest School is to encourage and inspire children of any age through positive outdoor experiences. Forest School is a way of learning which offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees. Seeing the children at play with our fabulous team you hear laughter and chatter but most of all, you become aware of warmth, happiness and a passion for learning about the world we live in.
Children will be encouraged to discover, explore, observe and question what they find in their outdoor environment by: making dens; exploring tracks; using simple hand tools to make wooden objects; creating art; playing and climbing; finding and identifying wildlife; creating and following maps; enjoying stories and songs… in all weather and in all seasons.
Children from 3 months regularly enjoy the wonderful countryside around our setting. Children can be found in meadows and woods, away from classrooms, books, computers and the drone of traffic. Babies attending our Nursery might be feeding the ducks and watching for rabbits, and toddlers crunching in leaves and splashing in puddles. In the woods, Pre-school children can be found flat on their bellies, glued to the grass and giggling; examining a slow worm, or listening to a tree’s ‘heartbeat’ with stethoscopes.
